Robot Liars and Altruists!

This is amazing if true. It seems that these bots, programmed only to learn to find "food" and avoid "poison" in competition with other bot-tribes, learned to lie in order to improve their chances. Other bots evidently committed suicide for the sake of their kind!

If David Levy (interviewed on the Colbert Report) is right, then robot, um, "life partners" aren't that far off either. The link below of a description of Levy's book.

One would have thought that one of the main advantages to a robotic "life-partner" was guaranteed sincerity. Guess not!

Don't you think that Robots need to compete in "natural selection"in order to survive? (Maybe it is artificial selection rather than natural, anyway) Humans needed to know how to kill each other in order to survive, I guess telling lie is even a more civilized way for survival. Don't you think?

this article has a link to the actual article. it also has a picture of the robots used.

I think it is pretty interesting. It is as though the robots gained a sense of individuality.
